Chilling the nutrient solution lets you successfully grow cool weather crops such as lettuce and spinach throughout the summer in the home or greenhouse. A cooler reservoir also helps prevent root rot and maintain healthy plant nutrient uptake. Most suggest a nutrient solution temperature range between 68 and 75° F for fruit or vegetable plants.
